Seryna Jane Lock
Seryna Jane Lock founded Sutherland Shire Singing in 2016 when she saw the need to provide an uplifting and nurturing environment for anyone who wanted to learn to sing. Since graduating in 2010 with a Bachelor of Music, majoring in Vocal Performance, Seryna has immersed herself in music.
For over 15 years she has been teaching singing, both in private lessons, group classes and choirs. These days, her love for teaching goes beyond singing. Seryna’s biggest enjoyment is seeing her students grow as people: in their confidence, their mindset, and their dreams.
As a performer, she has toured New South Wales and internationally, playing her original music as a solo artist, in an acoustic duo, singing backing vocals and playing keys for a country band, and singing as a member of a tour choir. Seryna’s original music has been played on multiple radio stations across Sydney and has landed her in numerous music publications and magazines.
Lucy Vella
Lucy Vella has been an avid performer for as long as she can remember, falling in love with being on stage from a young age. Her biggest passion is Musical Theatre and has performed in numerous productions. Her favourite roles to date have been playing Nala in The Lion King, Rusty in Footloose and April in Company.
Lucy has previously been a featured vocalist with CaSPA, released music with producer Omegaman and was nominated for HSC Encore. Lucy has a love for all kinds of music from pop to jazz, RnB and more.
As a teacher, Lucy has a wonderful rapport with all her student, often being seen as a mentor to them. She values building professional relationships with her students and encourages a warm, inviting space for people of all ages to express themselves and explore their talents! Her greatest joy is seeing students gain confidence in their voice and themselves.


Nicola De Sensi
Nicola is a contemporary musician who has always had a passion for singing and performing. From starting out in musicals, choirs, eisteddfods and busking, Nicola has developed a career in singing, performing in weddings, corporate events and private functions all over NSW.
After having all 4 chairs turn for her on The Voice in 2022, Nicola got to showcase her talents and fall deeper into the world of music. Nicola also loves songwriting and has recently started releasing music. What she finds most fulfilling is having the power to bring to life the artist’s emotions in a way that is captivating to the audience.
Nicola has a natural passion for teaching and prides herself in creating a safe, friendly and creative space for students to thrive in their learning. She is also currently studying Contemporary Music Education at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Nicola’s friendly nature makes it easy for students to connect and feel excited about learning music.
Frances Castley
Frances (Frankie) Castley is a passionate musician who has been active in the music industry for over 12 years. What began as a hobby has turned into a career in performing, writing, and teaching.
Frankie performs regularly in venues around Sydney, and had the honour in 2018 of being flown to London to partake in the Nando’s Songwriting Exchange.
Having spent years developing and improving her own vocal technique, Frances has accumulated a wealth of knowledge and experience that has helped many of her students reach their singing goals. She takes a comprehensive approach while keeping lessons fun, practical, and easy to understand. She draws from her own research of the vocal anatomy as well as renowned methods and techniques such as the Estill Vocal Method and Seth Rigg’s Speech Level Singing.


Thomas Weaver
Thomas Weaver is an avid performer who learned to read music before words. Performing in CATS with BMMS sparked his love for musical theatre and has since performed in over 20 productions, some of his highlights including ‘West Side Story’, ‘Urinetown’, ‘Bakery Hill’, ‘Les Miserables’, Princeton in ‘Avenue Q’ and his dream role of Quasimodo in ‘The Hunchback of Notre Dame.’
Thomas has trained vocally since the age of 9, under the guidance of Lyn Phillips, Kerrie & Trevor Brown, Barry Ryan & Richard Gill (AO). He was also a member of the Sydney Children’s Choir and Gondwana Choirs. Following high school, Thomas studied Classical Voice at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Thomas’ musical interests range from Musical Theatre, to Jazz, as well as classical Opera.
As a teacher, Thomas hopes to provide his students with strong technique, confidence in performing live as well as always having fun! Outside of music, Tom loves building and collecting lego sets, playing video games and just being an overall nerd.
Alexis Hutchinson


Benjamin Olivera
Benjamin Olivera is a well-experienced creative with his main passion being musical theatre. Ben has quite a selection of roles under his belt such as Al in “A Chorus Line”, Adam in “Freaky Friday” and St Aphrodisius in “The Hunchback of Notre Dame”.
Ben has also been classically trained and heavily involved in the Sydney Choral scene. Ben enjoys working with many different styles of music such as jazz, theatre, classical/opera and also pop.
Ben believes that everyone can sing should they truly desire to improve and looks forward to working with the incredible students at Sutherland Shire Singing to help them achieve their best. To continue building his craft, Ben is completing a Bachelor of Music (Performance: Musical Theatre) at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music where he is learning from some of the best performers and creatives that Australia has to offer.
Caleb Hamwood
Caleb has been a performer for as long as long as he can remember, falling in love with theatre
after being cast in his high school production of “The Addams Family” in year 8. He has since been in a variety of different mature and professional performances including performing as a featured artist in Schools Spectacular in 2019 and 2020 and his time as a part of Packemin’s “Les Miserables”.
Caleb is currently studying musical theatre at Sydney Conservatorium of music, and has continued his study of voice through private tutorage. Caleb’s passion is musical theatre and enjoys all styles of music, particularly performing pop ballads.
As a teacher Caleb has a focus on helping his students understand how their voice works with foundations in classical voice technique. This is supplemented by his drive to help students perform with technique and confidence.
